Edna L. Stashek

Edna Lee “Mema” Stashek, aged 93, passed away peacefully at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough, NJ, on April 19, 2024. Born on December 4, 1930, in Durbin, WV, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Mabel Dilley. After moving to Millstone, NJ at 10 years old, she lived with and was raised by the Millstone blacksmith, Edward Wycoff and his wife Caroline, whom she lovingly referred to as “Squeaky” and “Aggie”. She also became a lifelong member of the St. Joseph’s Parish community. Edna loved being a mother to her only daughter, Karen or “Trini”, and treasured spending time with her. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, where she could spend time doing her favorite things, like sharing her love for cooking and entertaining a house full of friends and family. During the summer, Edna and her late husband Henry, or “Scoop” , spent hours in their treasured garden, tending to numerous types of vegetables and flowers around their property. They also enjoyed hosting large picnics in the backyard, for the Millstone Valley Fire Company, or even the whole town. She also loved spending time ‘taking a dip’ in their backyard pool and swimming with loved ones, especially all their grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very fond of frogs and was often gifted statues or figurines of her favorite reptilian, which she displayed all around her home over her lifetime. Being an avid animal and bird lover, she always made sure the local bird population was very well fed; as well as any neighbors, kids, or family who happened to stop by. Everyone was comfortable in her home and welcome to stay for any length of time. Her door was always open with a warm plate of food and good company. She was preceded in death by her doting husband of 62 years, Henry; her brothers Otis Jr., William and Clark Dilley; sisters Ella Taylor and Alice “Gert” Barnett. She is survived by her beloved only child, Karen, and her husband Alan Jurgensen, and her brother and sister Russell Dilley & Bette Wiggins; her adoring grandchildren Jason Klett & wife Alison, Jonathan Stashek & wife Karamay, Kyle Jurgensen & wife Jaclyn, & Rebecca Lee Jurgensen; her dear great grandchildren; Arielle, Madysen & Ava Klett, Gracie May Stashek and Clayton & Lincoln Jurgensen. She is also survived by her many loved nieces and nephews that now reside all over the country but would still call and check up on her regularly. Whether near or far, Edna truly treasured being with her large and loving family. The viewing will be on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. (908) 575-8512. The Funeral will begin on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 8:30 am from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 am mass at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Millstone, NJ.
