John W. Kerchusky

John W. Kerchusky, 79, of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater, NJ. John (Jack) was born in West Mahanoy Township, PA on December 27, 1943 to John and Rebecca (Krieger) Kerchusky. He was one of three children, an avid baseball player and graduated from Ringtown High School in PA. He attended a Machinist trade school for three years and then enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corps in 1965. He was a combat engineer in the Vietnam War and promoted to Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1967. He was extremely proud to be a Marine. Jack married Helen Todd in January 1970. They moved to New Jersey and raised two daughters. He was employed as a machinist by Davis Standard (formerly Egan Machinery) in Somerville, NJ for over 30 years. He was active in company trap shooting and the softball team and known as “Gomer” to his colleagues. He was also involved in the raising of his three grandchildren and enjoyed going to their school and sports/dance activities. “Poppy” as he was called by his grandkids was always shuttling one of them around. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Todd) Kerchusky, in 2022; parents, John and Rebecca; sister, Constance and brother, Keith. He is survived by his daughters Pamela (Kerchusky) Bialiy and husband Joseph of Washington, NJ, Cheryl Kerchusky of Hillsborough, NJ and his three grandchildren Ryan Tinnell, Kayla Blair and Ciara Blair. Jack was a resident of Manville for 15 years and Hillsborough for more than 35 years. He always liked to have a good time and crack jokes. When he retired, he loved watching “The Price is Right” and could always be found tinkering with something in the yard or garage. He will be greatly missed by all especially his family. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Memorial Service and Military Honors Ceremony will take place at 12 noon at the Ketusky Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wreaths Across America.
