Joseph W. Karpinski

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Joseph Karpinski, 79, of Branchburg, NJ. Joe passed away on May 8, 2023 in Somerville, NJ. Born December 25, 1943 to Vincent and Constance, Joe grew up in Manville, NJ with his brothers: Vincent Jr., Ronald, and Richard. Joe married Barbara Grecco in 1976 in Raritan, NJ and were married for 46 years. Joe is survived by Barbara and their two children: Michael and Caitlin, as well as a beloved son-in-law Ross Knapp and guard dog Khaleesi. The Karpinski family has owned and operated the Manville Pastry Shoppe since Joe’s father opened it in 1966. Joe took over responsibility and ran the business with pride, humor, and tireless work ethic until he retired in 2018. In his early twenties, Joe was an accomplished bodybuilder, and he had a love of classic cars. He shared his passion for sports and cars with his very best friends: Fred, Harry, and Roger. Joe was a collector of odd facts, old movies, flashlights, and books. He was a reliable source in all areas of trivia. He would gladly sit and share nuggets of wisdom with anyone. After work or early on day’s off, Joe would sit with either his coffee or a beer in his kitchen watching his birds. Joe was exceedingly funny; if there was an opportunity for a joke, he would find it. Joe was loud, he filled a room with his voice, his laugh, and, if the Mets or Giants were playing, it was filled with cheers or curses. Joe lived a full, beautiful life, but there was nothing he loved more than his family. His pride is in his son, Mike, who continues to be a provider of strength for the family. And his joy is in his daughter, Caitlin, who single-handedly created the spark in his eye. Above all, Joe was endlessly and deeply in love with his wife, Bobbie, who he provided not only companionship, but ceaseless laughter throughout their lives. The Funeral will take place on Friday, May 19, 2023, 8:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (Christ the Redeemer Parish) in Manville, NJ.
