Louis S. Jeffries

Louis S. Jeffries, 85, of Manville, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2023 with his family by his side. Lou was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia who passed away in 1996. Lou was born in Manville in 1938 to Louis and Margaret Jeffries where he grew up with his sister Joan (Jeffries) Meyborg. After graduation from Bound Brook High School, he joined the United States Air Force in 1958. He enjoyed his time in the military, traveling throughout Europe with his buddies, Howard, Roger and Glen. After being honorably discharged in 1963, he met his wife, Patricia, and they married in 1966. Together they had two daughters, Pamela Maggio of Somerville, NJ and Kimberly Shaughnessy of Oviedo, FL. Lou worked at Princeton Polychrome Press as a Color Matching Specialist before retiring in 1996. His retirement allowed him to spend more time with his daughters and eventually be a huge part of his six grandchildrens’ lives. Lou was affectionately known as “Pop” to all of them: Pam’s daughters: Nicole of Manhattan, NYC, Megan of Reno, NV and Jennifer of Somerville, NJ as well as Kim and Patrick’s (son-in-law) children: Tyler, Alexis and Katie who all reside in Oviedo, Fl. His lifelong love of dogs extended over to his granddogs, Teddy and Bailey, who knew Pop always had the best treats. Lou is also survived by Bette Sebes, his long time partner of 20+ years. When he was not enjoying one of Bette’s home cooked meals, they could be found at their favorite restaurant, Cracker Barrel, enjoying lunch every Wednesday. Louis always said “Age is just a number, I’m young at heart” and through his later years his passion for living remained strong. Lou never turned down an opportunity to strike up a conversation with a server at any restaurant, a random store employee or a stranger walking down the street. He had the natural ability to make everyone smile. Louis’ personality will be long remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 4-7 at Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd, Manville, NJ. The funeral will take place on Friday, October 13 at 8 am at Ketusky Funeral Home, followed by a mass at 9 am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (Christ the Redeemer Parish) 98 S 2nd Ave, Manville, NJ. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, New Jersey.
