Marian A. Mehalick

Marian A. Mehalick, 85 of Hillsborough, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 3rd at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hillsborough. Born on February, 22 1938 in Somerset NJ she was the daughter of Helen and Felix Safaryn. Marian grew up in Raritan, NJ and graduated from Somerville High School in 1956. Shortly after graduation, she met her husband Joseph Mehalick while he was on leave from the military and they were married on Dec. 2, 1957 and moved to Manville, NJ. While in Manville, Marian was a communicant of Christ the King Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She loved sports and was a volunteer assistant coach for the Manville Recreation Girls softball team. Marian worked for the Manville Board of Education where she was a bus driver for 25 years until retirement. She drove the Special Education bus and loved all the children that she drove. She also enjoyed driving the sports teams to their away games. After retirement, Marian and Joe retired to the Sonata Bay Community in Bayville, NJ where they enjoyed being near the Jersey Shore. Marian enjoyed cooking and baking and will always be remembered for her amazing Christmas cookie trays and French Onion Soup. She loved watching her favorite teams, the Yankees and the Giants. Marian was a great wife, mom and grandmother and adored her grandchildren, CJ and Amanda. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. Marian spent her last year at Brookdale Assisted Living where she made many friends and met her lovely new friend Gloria. In the last few months, Gloria would stop by every day and always made her smile. The family would also like to thank the compassionate care Marian received from the nurses and aids at Brookdale Assisted Living and Grace Hospice. Marian is survived by daughter Janet Marcincavage and her fiancé Corey Willis and her cherished grandchildren Carl (CJ) Marcincavage and Amanda Marcincavage and beloved nieces , nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Mehalick, parents Helen and Felix Safaryn, daughter Lois Mehalick , sister Janet Safaryn, brothers-in-law Bernard and John and sister-in-law Patricia Mehalick.. The viewing will be on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ 08835. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 PM at the Funeral Home. Entombment will take place after the Service at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum in Bridgewater, NJ.
