Marilynn Fiure

Manville, NJ – Marilynn Fiure, 83, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 25, 2022 at home with her loving husband Michael by her side and surrounded by her loving daughter Michelle, granddaughter Amanda, great-granddaughters Olivia and Avery and beloved friend Sue. Born in McAdoo, PA, daughter of John and Verna (Lelyo) DeBellas, she was a lifelong resident of Manville. Marilynn was a communicant of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ where she was actively involved in church activities. Marilynn attended Bound Brook High School (Class of 1955). After graduating Marilynn took a job at Union Carbide where she met her partner for life Michael. After numerous rejections, she finally gave in and agreed to go on a date. It must have went well because they were married on May 11, 1957 and were to celebrate their 65th anniversary this year. Marilynn was an active member of her community, volunteering her time to help those in need. Along with her husband Michael, they were members of the American Red Cross, helping neighbors and friends here in Manville in the aftermath of the devastating floods. She also served on various community boards and organizations over the years including the Juvenile Justice Commission, New Jersey Task Force for Drug and Alcohol and Literacy Volunteers of America. Marilynn served as President of the Somerset County PTA and held several positions in the State PTA, including serving as their convention chairperson for three years. It was there she met one of her best and lifelong friends Barbara with whom she shared such fond memories. Marilynn was honored for her volunteerism by the Somerset County Family Planning Service and, along with her husband Michael, was presented with the Manville Citizen of the Year in 2012 by the Mayor. Marilynn is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 64 years, Michael, her children Gina, Michelle and Michael, grandchildren Amanda Sopko and her husband Kyle, Kellie and Coulter and great-grandchildren Olivia and Avery who brought so much joy to her life. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and legacy. The visitation will be on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ 08835. The Parastas Service will take place at 6:00 PM during the visitation. The Funeral will take place on Friday, April 1, 2022 9:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Service at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ.
