Bernice (nee Stout) Koscelnick passed away peacefully at home with her family on August 23, 2021. She was born on July 6, 1929 in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania to Foster and Alice Stout. Bernice attended Fairview School where she had proud memories of being a cheerleader for her school. Bernice moved to New Jersey 69 years ago and settled in Manville. Bernice was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was the true matriarch of her family. Bernice had a huge heart and showered her family with love. She selflessly helped family members when they needed her most. Her most cherished moments were the times she spent with her family. She most enjoyed gathering for family meals and getting together to play board games, especially Chinese Checkers and Scrabble. Spending time together on family vacations were special to her, whether it be going home to Pennsylvania or going to other destinations. She loved spending time with her Granddog Scarlet, especially when she doggy sat her. Her family will always cherish the happy memories they shared with her. Her daughters and grandchildren treasure the memories we had baking Christmas cookies together with her. Most recently we would have nightly sing-alongs of Mom’s favorite hymns. This special time will always burn bright in our hearts. Over the years Bernice and her sister Joyce enjoyed going out to lunch, taking road trips and going to art & craft shows. Her family enjoyed hearing stories about their adventures. In recent years, Joyce stayed with Bernice and helped to care for her. In her spare time, Bernice enjoyed quilting, crocheting, arts & crafts, jigsaw puzzles, Word Searches and the Jumbo from the Sunday paper, gardening, and playing on her iPad. She was a member of the Manville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed attending their meetings, meeting new friends, and going on the trips with the group. In addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Carl Koscelnick and a grandson Christopher Murawski. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Catherine Francis (Geoffrey) of Hillsborough Jeanne Bellas (John) of Plainsboro, Joan Murawski (David) of Piscataway, and grandchildren, David Murawski, Jessica Murawski and Gregory Murawski.
