Chester Olshefski, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 10, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania the son of the late Frank and Miranda Olshefski. Mr. Olshefski served his Country Honorably in the United States Army National Guard. He was a resident of Manville, NJ for the past 62 years. Mr. Olshefski worked for the Johns-Manville Corporation in Manville, NJ for 33 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He then worked at the GSA Depot in Belle Mead, NJ for 7 years before retiring. Mr. Olshefski was an active member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and worked bingo for many years at the Church. Mr. Olshefski was a member of the Manville Youth Atheletic League (M.Y.A.L.) where he was a baseball coach and an equipment manager for M.Y.A.L. football. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies fan. Mr. Olshefski was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by 3 brothers Edward Olshefski, Frank Olshefski and John Olshefski and by three sisters Florence Grabowski, Pauline Rishkofski and Mary Rynkiewicz and by his best friend John Tomaszfski. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Anna Olshefski of Manville, NJ, his dear sons David Olshefski and his wife Abby of Hopatcong, NJ, Chester Olshefski and his companion Maribeth of Tafton, Pennsylvania, Alan Olshefski and his wife Denise of Wapwallopen, Pennsylvania and Joseph Olshefski of Glen Gardner, NJ, and by his loving daughter Anne Thorne and her husband Glenn of Somerville, NJ, his brothers Paul Olshefski and his wife Patsy of Mountaintop, Pennsylvania, Robert Olshefski and his wife Geraldine of Freemansburg, Pennsylvania, and Joseph Olshefski and his wife Barbara of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania and by a sister Martina Briggs and her husband Kenneth of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his cherished granchildren Alan, Jr., Jenna, Ryan, Jeremy, Kevin, and Jason, a great-grandchild Anthony, Jr. and by many nieces and nephews. The vieiwing will be on Wednesday January 14, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. (908)575-8512. The Funeral will be on Thursday January 15, 2015 9:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hillsborough, NJ.
