November 28, 1933 - January 6, 2022
Concetta Impellizeri (Alaimo) passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2022, twenty-nine years and one day after her beloved late husband, Peter Impellizeri. She was born on November 28, 1933, in Raritan, NJ, daughter of the late Joseph Alaimo and Angelina Mariannino, and sister of the late Margaret Fortunato. She was a resident of Somerset NJ for over 60 years before moving to Warren NJ. Love of family, food, and fun inspired and drove Connie, as she is known, for most of her life. Holidays, special events, school plays, birthdays, and all the little things that make a happy home and family were her focus. Her family and friends will remember her kindness, love, and support, but perhaps most of all, her cooking. Food was her passion. She was an artist in the kitchen and was most happy hosting large family gatherings and meals, especially for the holidays. Whether it was for 5 or 25, all were welcome in her home and at her table. The food was phenomenal both in quantity and flavor. Good cheer, good, food, and love filled her home. From managing Hawaiian Luaus and fundraisers for the Cedar Hill Swim Club and the Our Lady of Mercy Church in her early family life, to mahjong with her close neighborhood friends, she always found the time and put everyone else’s enjoyment ahead of her own. She loved decorating her home and engaged in many arts and crafts. She was an avid collector of Hummels and Byer’s Choice. Each Hummel was purchased with an eye towards representing a life experience or loved one. Pioneering her own path, Connie was an early “working mother” in the 1960’s, among the first in her neighborhood and social circles to work outside the home while raising a family. She became a florist at Hayden’s Flower Shop in Bound Brook, NJ learning the art on the job and working more years than anyone could count until the owners sold the shop. She successfully exhibited at flower shows for a brief period revealing her professional artistry. When the shop closed, she adapted and acquired a job as an office worker at Liberty Mutual until she retired. She maintained long friendships with her co-workers from both establishments. After her retirement she pursued her other “great passion”, traveling. First with her husband and, after his death, with her friends she went on cruises, tours, bus tours, and weekend get-a-ways. Until age took its toll, she spent many years traveling the globe leaving our family to sort through over a large collection of photos from all the trips. She lived a full life surrounding herself with loving friends and family. Connie is survived by her daughter, Anita Impellizeri-O’Brien, and her husband Thomas O’Brien (deceased), and her son, Joseph Impellizeri and his wife, Ana Maria Impellizeri (Chavez). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kelly King-O’Brien and her wife Charissa King-O’Brien, Carrie O’Brien, Armando O’Brien, Ramon O’Brien, Peter A Impellizeri, and Christopher J. Impellizeri. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Betty Ann Robertson (Fortunato) and her husband John, Frank Fortunato and his wife Marie, and Angela Gorsky (Fortunato) and her husband David. Services: A public viewing will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Monday, January 10th at the Ketusky Funeral Home located at 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville NJ 08835. A private service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 11th at the Ketusky Funeral Home, following by interment at the Bound Brook Cemetery on Mountain Avenue in Bound Brook, NJ.
