George T. Lawler, Sr. 86, of Hillsborough, NJ passed away peacefully Thursday, September 1, 2016. He was married to Anne (DeFranco) Lawler for 43 years, until her death in 1998. Born, June 9, 1930 in Gillette, NJ, he moved to Hillsborough in 1958 where he raised his family, and most recently lived with his son in Belle Mead. Working most of his life at the phone company, he started at Bell Labs where he met Anne, and later worked at Hillsborough and Montgomery Telephone Company and Sprint, retiring in 1993. He also drove a tractor trailer and served as a volunteer fireman. George enjoyed the simple things in life, fixing things around the house, taking care of his lawn, grilling in the backyard, camping with his family, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, spending time at the family cabin and having a shot and beer in the local bar. Never one to take life too seriously, he instilled his unique sense of humor and strong family values to his children. He was always surrounded by his children, grandchildren and friends, and was loved by all. In addition to his wife, George was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Lawler, his brother, Thomas Lawler, and his sisters Kay Seabridge and Vera Brown. He is survived by his four children, George Lawler, Jr. and wife Lisa of Belle Mead, Carol Liskiewicz and husband Joe of Belford, John Lawler and wife Kathy of Belle Mead, and Patty Csuha and husband Paul of Hillsborough; his grand- and step-grandchildren George Lawler III, Mickey Csuha, Paige Csuha, Joseph Liskiewicz, Anna Csuha, Johnny Lawler, Bryan Galumbus and wife Kristin, Thomas Giacomarra, Ashley Johnson and husband Andrew; his great-grandchildren, Brody, Nathan and Riley. The viewing will be on Thursday September 8, 2016 from 6 to 9 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Funeral will be on Friday September 9, 2016 8:45 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Graveside Service at Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
