John Kerecman, 85 died Saturday August 14, 2010 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. He was born in Dickson City, Pennsylvania on October 20, 1924 the son of the late John and Helen Kerecman. He was a resident of Manville, NJ for the past 59 years. Mr. Kerecman served his Country faithfully in the United States Army for seven and a half years overseas during World War II in Germany. He worked at the Union Carbide Corporation in Piscataway, NJ as a lab technician for 30 years before retiring in 1980. He was a life member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh V.F.W. Post #2290 in Manville, NJ. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed trips with his family to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mr. Kerecman was a member of Christ The King Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ. Before his health problems John was very active with Christ The King Church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of both the Christ The King Choir and the Mercy Choir. His most memorable time with the Choir was when Father Peter Cebulka was Choir Director and he was singing with the Metuchen Dioceses Choir at the Cathedral Shrine in Washington, DC. Another memorable time was singing at ST. Patricks Cathedral in New York City as well as singing with Sister Mary Celest in Washington, NJ at the Blue Army Shrine. He was also a member of the Blue Army. Mr. Kerecman was predeceased by his sons baby John and by Gerard Kerecman in 2000. He was also predeceased by sisters Ann Wienewski and Jay Ditchkus and by brothers George, Andrew and Joseph Kerecman. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Angela H. Kerecman of Manville, NJ, his son James Kerecman of Manville, NJ, his sister Mary Vincintine of Dickson City, Pennsylvania and his brother Michael Kerecman of Dickson City, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by Jerry, Chelsea and David. The viewing will be on Thursday August 19, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ.(908)575-8512. The Funeral will be on Friday August 20, 2010 9:15 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home to be followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ.
