Kevin Patrick Shutack passed away Thursday morning, March 18, at his home in Neshanic Station. He was predeceased by his parents Mary Jane (Sluck) and John Patrick Shutack. He is survived by his brother John G. and his wife Mary (Dombroski) of Hamilton Square, and their children, Brad of Hamilton, Ashley of West Chester, PA and Eric and his wife Alison of Mt. Laurel. He was also loved by his niece Karlie, step-niece Brielle as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was born in New Brunswick and grew up in Manville before relocating to Neshanic Station. He graduated from Manville High School and Rutgers’ College of Engineering, where he majored in Packaging Engineering. Kevin was a Life Member of Manville Volunteer Fire Company #1 and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ. From 1983 to 2001, he worked at Carter-Wallace as a Packaging Engineer and then at Church & Dwight (Arm & Hammer) from 2001 to 2008. He then was employed by QLA (Quality Lab Accessories) based in Telford, PA. as a Field Service Engineer. As an engineer, Kevin worked on many of the products you use today, even filing for a patent for a unique Laundry Detergent Closure system while working for Church & Dwight. He also had a love for cars including BMWs, a Mini-Cooper and pretty much anything with four wheels and a motor. He also owned two TVRs and was active in the TVR club of North America, where he ran the National Show for several years. He was a member of the Scheduling Committee of Hunterdon Walking and Social Club and held several social events at his home over the years. He taught Auto-CAD Drafting for a short time at Raritan Valley Community College. He helped the Hamilton Y-Guides with their Annual Pine Car Derby converting their manual car-drop to an electronic timing system. He was also a veteran of numerous Science Fair projects where the simplest of tasks was taken to the nth degree which included cars riding on a magnetic rail system and building a tidal basin for recreating a repetitive tsunami to determine the effects of the water on various shaped structures. He was loving, respected by his peers, genuine, caring and always willing to stop what he was doing to help others. He enjoyed hiking, biking and camping and was a Cross Country runner in High School and completed the Jersey Shore Marathon in the late 1970s. The visitation will be on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ 08835. The Funeral will be on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 9:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Service at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on the Church website which is www.stmaryhillsboroughnj.org. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ. Due to Covid-19 Executive Orders in place by the Governor of New Jersey everyone must wear a mask and capacity is 50% for both the Funeral Home and the Church.
