    Leon J. Specian

    September 25, 1928 - August 7, 2017

    Leon J. Specian, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2017 at Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough, NJ with his loving family by his side. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ the son of the late Alexander and Frances Specian. Mr. Specian was a lifelong resident of Manville, NJ. He served his Country Honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Specian worked as a machinist at Egans Machinery in Bridgewater, NJ for 40 years. He then worked for the Branchburg Board of Education for five years before retiring. Mr. Specian enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh V.F.W. Post #2290 in Manville, NJ. Mr. Specian was an avid Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed watching both football and baseball. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (Christ the Redeemer Parish) in Manville, NJ. He was predeceased by four brothers, William Specian, Charles Specian, Alexander Specian, Jr. and Anthony Specian and by one sister Stella Sulla. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Cecelia Specian of Hillsborough, NJ, by his daughter Barbara Ann Specian of Manville, NJ and by four sons Eugene Specian and his wife Sandra of Manville, NJ, Paul Specian of Manville, NJ, Kenneth Specian of Hamilton, NJ and Lawrence Specian and his wife Jill of Hamilton, NJ. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Amy Kepple and her husband Nathan, Holly Scheuermann and her husband Robbie, Robin Suggs and her husband Bo, Brian Specian and Marc Specian and by two great-grandchildren Ashley Kepple and Lily Suggs. The viewing will be on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Funeral will be on Friday, August 11, 2017 8:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ. For additional information pleas visit our website at www.ketusky.com.
