    Mary M. Skirkanish

    April 30, 1932 - January 28, 2018

    Mary M. Skirkanish, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at home with her caring and devoted family by her side. She was born in William Penn, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Mary and George Mohnacky I. Mrs. Skirkanish was a resident of Manville, NJ for the past 60 years. She worked for Somerset County at the Somerset County Library in Bridgewater, NJ for many years before retiring. Mrs. Skirkanish was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed cooking homemade family meals and was known for her pierogi and her stuffed cabbage. Mrs. Skirkanish was also an avid baker and baked for the St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Bingo for 30 years. She was a very caring person who volunteered with the Meals on Wheels Program of Somerset County. Mrs. Skirkanish was also active with the Manville/Bridgewater Senior Center. She was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ as well as the St. Mary's Holy Name Society. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard Skirkanish, Sr. in 2013. She was also predeceased by her two brothers George Mohnacky and Michael Mohnacky and by her sister Anna Siebert. She is survived by her five loving sons Leonard Skirkanish and his wife Cynthia of Manville, NJ, Ronald G. Skirkanish and his wife Gale of Manville, NJ, Gary M. Skirkanish of Manville, NJ, Kenneth M. Skirkanish of Manville, NJ and Jeffrey E. Skirkanish of Manville, NJ and by her cherished grandson Ronald Skirkanish, Jr.. She is also survived by a nephew Robert Seibert and by a great-nephew George Mohnacky IV. The viewing will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Parastas Service will take place at 6:30 PM during the viewing. The Funeral will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 9:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ. For additional information please visit our website at www.ketusky.com.
