Michael Petrik, 71, of Piscataway, passed away at home on November 29, 2015. He immigrated to the United States from Litmanova, Slovakia in November of 1967 and spent his last 38 years in Piscataway with his wife and two children. Michael worked for General Motors in Linden for 31 years and was a 41 year member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. He was a man of few words and wanted for nothing. His greatest pleasure was helping others. He was an outstanding example of an immigrant that embraced his opportunity for the American dream and created an extraordinary life for his wife and children. Michael flew the American flag with pride while cherishing and celebrating his Slovak heritage. Michael is predeceased by his parents, Anna and Vasil Petrik. Two sisters, Anna Petrik and Helen Hanzes. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Mary Petrik. Son and Daughter-in-law, Michael and Amy Petrik. Daughter and Son-in-law, Sonya and Jason Henyecz. Three grandchildren, Michael John and Lucia Cynthia Petrik and Ava Grace Henyecz. Brother Vasil Petrik and sister, Maria Grygorova and many more family and friends. The viewing will be on Friday December 4, 2015 from 5 to 9 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., P.O. Box 747 Manville, NJ. (908)575-8512. The Parastas will take place at 7:30 PM during the viewing and will be conducted by Father Edward Cimbala. The Funeral will be on Saturday December 5, 2015 9:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
