Walter J. Chase Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Walter J. Chase (KC2EVL), 80 died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday December 21, 2011 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. He was born in Astoria, NY the son of the late Walter and Mary (Buchanec) Chase. He was raised in Manville, NJ and was a lifelong resident. He moved to Flemington, NJ to live with his daughter and son-in-law in 2009. Mr. Chase served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received the Occupation Medal (Japan) and the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars while serving his Country. He was a cost accountant for the Johns-Manville Corporation in Manville, NJ for 34 years before retiring. He was also a member of the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the Manville Civil Defense, the Thomas J. Kavanaugh V.F.W. Post #2290 in Manville, NJ and the Manville Elks. He loved being a Ham Radio Operator and was a member of the Raritan Valley Radio Club. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Chase was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ. He was predeceased by his loving wife Elsa (Marriott) Chase in August 1996 and by his beloved son Walter Joseph Chase, Jr. in May 1969. He was also predeceased by his brother Robert Chase. Walter is survived by his daughters Deborah Mleczko and her husband Stanley of Manville, NJ, and Diane Kovacs and her husband Robert of Flemington, NJ. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory four grandchildren Melissa and Stanley Mleczko and Alyson and Kristina Kovacs. The viewing will be held on Monday December 26, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. (908)575-8512. The Funeral will be held on Tuesday December 27, 2011 8:15 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ.
