Dr. Jebamoni Ambrose

Jebamoni Ambrose was born in the town of Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India on October 12th, 1928. He was the youngest of eight children of Dr. S. Ambrose and Mrs. Muthammal Ambrose. Like his father he pursued a career in medicine and began medical practice in rural South India after graduation. He married Victoria Gunamony on December 30th, 1958 and had two sons, Gunaseelan and Jayaseelan. In 1964 Dr. Ambrose went to Glasgow, United Kingdom for post-graduate training and secured his Membership from the Royal College of Physicians. He returned to India and served as the Medical Superintendent at the Church of South India Mission Hospital, Neyyoor. He moved to the US in 1971 and after completing a residency at Atlantic City Hospital practiced in Hillsborough, New Jersey. On January 6th, 2004 His beloved wife Victoria passed away after a valiant fight with breast cancer. Gunaseelan Ambrose and his family moved to New Jersey in 2005 to be closer to him. He nevertheless remained independent and continued to practice fulltime. Later in life he became confined to a wheelchair, but despite this handicap, he continued to practice out of his office and was assisted by his oldest daughter-in-law, Prita Ambrose. After almost a half century of primary care medical practice, he was persuaded to retire but did so reluctantly in 2020. Even with all his setbacks and disabilities, if you asked him how he was doing, he would enthusiastically reply “very well, indeed!” He remained at home, until a day before his passing. He was taken to the hospital in the evening of March 27th, 2024 and died peacefully on March 27th, 2024 at 6:23pm. He was preceded by his wife, Victoria and is survived by his two sons Gunaseelan and Jayaseelan, two daughters-in-law, Prita and Reena, and three grandsons, Pradeep, Sandeep and Jonathan. He was a devoted believer and was confident in his salvation through Jesus Christ. He was not afraid of death, and so lived each day as a gift from God. He lived a life of generosity and kindness in the service of his family, patients, and acquaintances. He never made distinctions between people and treated all with the same love that he had received from God. The visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ 08835. The Funeral will be on Thursday, April 4, 2024 with one hour of visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM conducted by Rev. Gerald S. McLynn. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park in Somerset, NJ.
